Hollywood astrologist has national success ‘in the cards’

Renowned astrologer and longtime Hollywood-resident Maya White discovered her unique gift as a young teen-ager. But it would take many years and several different career paths before the Hollywood woman embraced her true calling.

“I resisted it,” said White, an internationally recognized astrologer and intuitive guide. “I always thought that astrology was a nice hobby but didn’t think I could make a living at it.”

Today, White is a respected teacher and author who has been featured in publications in the United States as well as Europe, Thailand and India. She gives astrological readings and conducts astrology workshops, and offers free monthly horoscopes and a newsletter through her web site, www.mayawhite.com. White also is one of only 90 people worldwide to be certified in AstroCartoGraphy, a branch of astrology that guides people to find their perfect place on Earth for positive growth.

She recently created her own 40-card set of astrology oracle cards and an accompanying guidebook, which were selected for publication by Hay House Publishers, the international leader in self-help and transformational publishing. She developed the cards and guidebook in a way that benefits the uninitiated as well as those already familiar with astrology. White said understanding the unique symbols, colors and images embedded on each card – once a complicated process – is quick and fun with her custom-designed set.

“I really want to empower people to learn and understand this on their own,” she said. “This is a whole-brain learning system. It’s a unique system and easy.”

White calls astrology a “secret navigation tool to personal success,” a way of understanding the forces that shape our lives.

At a very early age, she began to question religious dogma and, as part of her “search for understanding,” she has studied Buddhism, yoga, Christianity, Huna philosophy, tarot, Spiritualism, alchemy, Zen and Kabbalah. “I believe that there are many paths to one creator,” she said.

White discovered astrology as a 14-year-old girl growing up near Boulder, Colo. She ended up earning a degree in music and pursued her “other love,” giving private piano and violin lessons.

Through the years, White tried a series of occupations, giving astrological readings on the side. She sold furniture and radio advertising, was an office manager and an administrative assistant, painted houses and worked in computer technical support.

“I tried every other job. Nothing worked,” White said. “I was miserable.”
