Local gym brings healthy, organic living closer to home with its Green Life Market

In hopes of making it more convenient for Hollywood residents to eat healthier and in hopes of stimulating the local economy by promoting the idea of “buying local,” Synergize! has teamed up with farmers, vendors and raw food experts to create the Green Life Market.

Synergize!, a 5000 square-foot health and fitness center in Hollywood, Florida, recently announced it is bringing healthy organic living closer to home with the introduction of its Green Life Market starting this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1200 North Federal Highway.

The market will be open each Saturday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for locals to taste and bring home the freshest raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. In addition, each week the market will feature an indoor seminar or cooking demonstration and a Healthy Kids section where kids will be invited to prepare healthy snacks and learn why eating fruits and vegetables is cool.

“With the raw and organic food movements having officially become mainstream, we want to educate people on the benefits of eating natural, make it easy for them to get ingredients, teach them how to prepare meals and open their eyes to how much they can enjoy it,” said Shondelle Solomon-Miles, Founder of Synergize! “This market will give local residents a unique opportunity to experience just how diverse eating raw and organic can be. If the Green Life Market can enable people to eat more fruits and vegetables than they are today, then it will be serving its purpose.”

Human beings are the only living creatures on Earth that alter food through cooking, a process that washes away the essential minerals, destroys most vitamins and all of the beneficial enzymes found in foods’ natural state, Solomon-Miles said. Raw foods are organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds prepared in a manner that maintain the food enzymatically and leave them nutritionally intact, increasing the health benefits immensely.

I visited the market, and really enjoyed it. There were 4 tables filled w/prepared raw foods. Several kinds of decerts, (amazing)!!! Prices are compatible, but at the high end, as all prepared raw foods products. They have raw onion bread that I use now instead of regular bread, i think I am getting addicted to eat, it's so good.
In addition got few good advices from vendor. Missed it last Saturday, but be sure to be there this coming Saturday. Wish they had longer hours as I need to plan my day around those 2 hours that market is open.
Great idea, hope they will stay.

It was a press release from Synergize, not paid for -- but a press release nonetheless. When we publish releases on the site we attribute them to Hollywood Gazette but I will meet with my editor next week to see if we should look at that policy. You are the first person to notice enough to care to ask smilies/smiley.gif You're right -- it's not "real" reporting. Hollywood Gazette is considering co-sponsoring the weekly event because we support the effort and think that Synergize is great!! Perhaps not the "mecca" but a really great place to work out with a nice group -- just like a lot of other fitness places. smilies/smiley.gif As for the scientific evidence I can't speak to that, but I have seen Food, Inc. and other documentaries that have me very concerned about how our food is prepared for the masses.

Thank you for reading and commenting and holding us to journalistic account!

There is no scientific evidence that shows there is any nutritional benefit to organic foods. Also, on what basis do you report that Synergize! is the leading hollywood fitness "mecca"? I've worked out at many places in hollywood in the 4 years that i have lived here and I had to google Synergize! to validate that it even existed. Also, why is the author "The Hollywood Gazette". My only guess is this is entire thing is not reporting at all, but a paid advertisement that no one wants to take responsibility for by name. Otherwise. Great article!
