Join the Beachside Montessori Village Team to Walk for the Animals Feb. 28

On Saturday, February 28, 2015 the Humane Society of Broward County will celebrate its 25th Anniversary Walk for the Animals. Last year’s Walk saw 5,000 people and 2,500 of their furry friends unite in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, and even more are expected this year to help the shelter reach the goal of $550,000!

The Walk for the Animals, presented by VCA Animal Hospitals, is the Humane Society of Broward County’s largest annual fundraiser.  Funds raised from this event help the shelter continue its mission of helping animals and educating the community. Your participation will help make a difference for thousands of animals in need, and help them find forever homes.

The event takes place at Huizenga Plaza in Downtown Fort Lauderdale with Jacey Birch from WPLG Local 10 and 99.9 Kiss Country welcoming the walkers.  Registration is at 8:00 a.m. and the 1.2 mile walk begins at 10:00 a.m.

Event chairs Carey Morgan and Leslie Vincent encourage you to register on-line at  – you can even create your own personal fundraising page and ask friends to donate.  The sooner you register the sooner you can start collecting donations.  Raise a minimum of $150 and get the official walk t-shirt and dog bandana.  Raise $250 and you’ll receive the special anniversary key chain.  Have a group of friends or coworkers that want to support the event?  Form a “Pack” or team, raise a minimum of $1,500 and get special “pack perks and prizes!”

Or if you prefer join the Beachside Montessori Village Team – BMV Lions.  Last year this group of dedicated students, teachers and parents raised over $5,000 and they want to raise even more this year.   The walk is a fabulous way to meet fellow animal lovers all while raising money for a great cause.  With fun for the whole family and a complimentary pancake breakfast provided by IHOP, this is a great event for all ages!

The Walk for the Animals would not be possible without the generous support of the following sponsors:  VCA Animal Hospitals, Purina, Tidy Cats, Merial, Furry Paws, Little’s Photography, Publix, BB&T, IHOP, Target, Oasis Outsourcing, Alpha Dog Marketing, Boehringer Ingelheim, Broward Health, Brown and Brown Insurance, Emerald Hills Pharmacy, Jimmy Johns, LaCroix, Nestle Nesquik, One Lucky Mutt, Papa John’s, Pet Emergency Center, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Stiles, Sun Credit Union, Trueba Media, We Florida Financial, Wizard Creations, Zoetis, WPLG Local 10, 99.9 Kiss Country, the Flyer and Mack Planet.
