Hollywood resident Enzo Juarez wins Hollywood Skate Off

Enzo Juarez loves skateboarding and he has been doing it since he was 12. 

“It is a great way to relieve stress and a good hobby,” said Juarez, age 20, of Hollywood. He won first place in the 16 and older category at the Hollywood Skate Off at the Stan Goldman Skate Park. “This is the first time I have won a contest and I hope to continue competing.”

He was among a group of skateboarders from all over South Florida who competed in the first annual Hollywood Skate Off. The competitors were evaluated on tricks, style, consistency and how they recovered from falls. They went over ramps and obstacles. Those who participated showed some real skill.

Tom Hodgson, took second place in the 16 and over category. “This was great. I really enjoyed it,” he said.  Manny Benitez finished third in the 16 and over category sand he was glad to see young people coming together to enjoy a skateboard competition.

Sebastian Tuccio won first place in the 12 to 15 age category and said he enjoyed the competition and was glad to win. Daniel Scales won second place and also liked the event. Alex Handal finished third and said he enjoys skateboarding. “It a great pastime and something I like to do,” said Handal.

Trevor Robinson participated in the competition. “I like skateboarding. It takes a lot of dedication to be able to do well in a competition,” he said. 

There was a competition for younger children. It was an opportunity for people who like to skateboard to show their skills and have some fun.
