District 4 Commissioner Dick Blattner ended his mayoral campaign this week when he announced that he was withdrawing from the 2016 race against the four remaining candidates Patricia Asseff, Itzhack Feldman, Joshua Levy, and Eleanor Sobel.

“Serving the residents of District 4 is a great responsibility, one I have enjoyed,” said Blattner in an email to Hollywood Gazette.  “My efforts moving forward are to be re-elected as Commissioner for this District, and to continue, on an equal basis, to serve all the residents of Hollywood.”

“My thanks and appreciation to all those who encouraged me to run for a different seat, but District 4 Commissioner is the right place for me.”

District 4 Commissioner Dick Blattner began serving on the Hollywood City Commission in 1994, taking 7 years off from 2000 to 2007. After 23 years, he retired from Suncoast Marketing as a manufacturer’s representative, which he owned and operated.

Blattner is also chairperson of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, a position he has held for seven years.
