Hollywood has a new Walmart Supercenter on the southeast corner of Hollywood Boulevard and State Road 7 that was once occupied by the Hollywood Fashion Center and Millennium Mall. The Hollywood Fashion Center had high end stores but closed in 1993. The Millennium Mall operated as a flea market but closed in 2004. The land remained vacant until this new Walmart.

The store features about 183,000 square feet and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. About two-thirds of the more than 500 people who work at the new Walmart are from Hollywood. Just before the huge store opened all the associates got together and performed the Walmart cheer.

“We are giving jobs to more than 500 people and this is helping their families,” said Jackie St. Fleur, a co-manager. “There are plenty of opportunities to advance at Walmart. I started as an hourly associate.”

The new Walmart offers almost every product from groceries to clothing to electronic equipment and features a full service pharmacy.

“We are a community store. We have fresh vegetables and we sell what local consumers want at low prices. We also provide jobs to local residents. We are invested in the community,” said Max Saintil, a co-manager.
