Hollywood offers free field trips to seniors over 60

Thanks to the Elder Grant, seniors over the age of 60 can enjoy enrichment classes, cultural trips, fitness programs and recreational activities, all while fostering friendships and new experiences – for free! This is the 15th year Hollywood has received the Grant through the Older Americans Act, so step right up and claim your tickets!

Here’s how it works:

Depending on the field trip location and accommodations, between 50 and 98 people are chosen for the trip through a ticket giveaway process. Trips are free to participants, and trip locations are carefully chosen by staff to include a variety of interesting locations and activities that cover a wide range of interests.

Here are the next grant trips being offered:

  • WHEN: Thursday, June 2, 2016
  • TIME: 4 – 11 p.m., Meal Included
  • TICKET GIVEAWAY: Thursday, May 26, 2016
  • DOORS OPEN @ 7:30 a.m., 50 Tickets available through Lottery Selection

BOWLING AT SpareZ, Davie, FL

  • WHEN: Thursday, June 9, 2016
  • TIME: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Meal Included
  • TICKET GIVEAWAY: Friday, June 3, 2016
  • DOORS OPEN @ 7:30 a.m., 50 Tickets available through Lottery Selection

All ticket giveaways are held at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Community Center, located at 2030 Polk Street, Hollywood, FL, and you must be present at the giveaway to win a spot on the trip. After sign-up, names will be chosen at random. Alternate names will also be chosen at that time for the “wait list” should someone not be able to go.

Requirements to participate in the Elder Grant:

  • Must be 60 years of age or older
  • Valid Identification Card
  • Must provide proof of Broward County residency

Depending upon the trip – either breakfast, lunch or dinner is provided (again, thanks to the grant funding). Meals range from a box lunch to restaurant dining, depending upon the time of the trip and the establishment. Many local restaurants have been chosen as the meal location.

For more information, please contact the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Community Center at (954) 921-3408.
