Hollywood's Summer Camp programs begin June 13; kids 4 and under can learn to swim for free

Registration is now open for a wide variety of affordable summer camp options for Hollywood youth aged 5 – 17.  2016 programs include Junior Beach Lifeguard Camp, Maximizing Out of School Time (M.O.S.T.) Camp, Science, Education & Adventure (S.E.A.) Camp and Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (S.T.E.M.) Themed Camp.

Aquatic programs are also available at the Driftwood Pool  (3000 N. 69 Ave.) and kids between the ages of 6 months and 4 years old living in Broward qualify to learn to swim for free.

The Children’s Services Council of Broward County has partnered with Broward County’s SWIM Central program provide a coupon to help off-set the cost of swimming instruction for children and their families. The coupon is redeemable for a Free Learn-to-Swim Course at Driftwood Community Pool.

Each child will need their own coupon and may only receive one coupon per year.  Visit www.watersmartbroward.org to apply for the coupon.

Jr. Beach Lifeguard Camp Registration:
This camp is designed to provide children 8 – 17 years of age are exposed to ocean and beach safety, lifesaving techniques and procedures, rescue board and ocean kayak skills, ecology, first aid and competition in ocean lifeguard events. Applicants must pass a basic swim ability test to participate.

M.O.S.T. (Maximizing Out of School Time) Camp:
Daily academics by certified teachers, reading and literacy activities with science, math and cultural arts enrichment keep children engaged in learning. Fees are determined by income.

S.E.A. (Science, Education & Adventure) Camp:
A classroom without walls focusing on marine life and natural sciences. Camp includes marine biology, oceanography, water safety and ecology.

S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Themed Camp:
These new camps provide an ideal environment to explore STEM topics of choosing without fear of academic failure, and can gain an appreciation for the relevance of STEM in daily lives.
