Hollywood Healing Haiti concert raises funds and awareness for orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Port-au-Prince

Oh, if only it were as easy to heal a country as it is to put on a great concert in a beautiful park…not that that’s a walk in the park, either!   But Hollywood Healing Haiti did it.

The Rav and the Rev — Hollywood’s own God Squad — apparently had a talk with the Big Guy who delivered a warm and sunny day on Sunday, Jan. 28. The Artspark at Young Circle was filled with music lovers, exercisers, dancers, and players, young and old, raffle-buyers, art patrons, and many donation-givers to make the day a huge success for the charitable foundation.

Pastor Kennedy McGowan of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood and Rabbi Allan C. Tuffs of Temple Beth El of Hollywood, founders of Hollywood CARES (Caribbean AIDS Relief, Education and Support) and Sharon Tanenhaus, president of the organization, with their wonderfully dedicated team, were joined by John Dieubon, manager of Project Papillon, the orphanage and community youth center they support in Port au Prince, Haiti.

The four-hour show included performances by Charlie Pickett and several other musical guests, a Haitian art fair, a silent auction and raffle with great prizes, face painting for the kids, Haitian food and other delights.  A great time was had by all, and all the money raised goes directly to supporting the programs of the project.
