Sat., Mar. 24 Expected to be Cloudy with a Chance of Marshmallows

The City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts will celebrate the arrival of the new spring season with the Annual Spring Marshmallow Drop and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24 from 2 to 5 pm.

The event will take place at the Boulevard Heights Community Center, 6770 Garfield Street in Hollywood, and will also feature an open house showcasing local civic associations and community service providers.   Children can enjoy arts and crafts, bounce houses, free popcorn, a DJ spinning tunes, and get a photo with the Easter Bunny!

At 4 pm, baskets will be provided to children ages 3 to 6, to participate in a traditional Spring Egg Hunt. At 4:30, a helicopter will fly overhead and release more than 30,000 marshmallows onto a field.  Children ages 7-12, with baskets and bags in hand, will rush to gather as many marshmallows as they can, to be traded in for candy or a chance to win gift baskets, bicycles, and other fun prizes. The Little Peeps Pageant, beginning at 3 pm, is a costume contest for children ages 3 and under that will feature 3 categories: Best Dressed (Cutest Outfit), Best Personality, and Best “Mommy and Me” Duo.

Participants should arrive early to allow ample time for check-in and age-appropriate wrist-banding to participate in the egg hunt and marshmallow drop. Registration for all activities and contests begins at 2. Adult supervision is required for all children. A variety of food items will be available for purchase.
