SPARK Hollywood, a coalition of local organizations focused on growing and supporting the technology sector and entrepreneurs in Hollywood, Florida, announced that it’s hosting its annual ‘start-up competition’, SPARK Hollywood, at 5 pm on May 17, at the new CIRC Hotel at Young Circle.
SPARK Hollywood is an event that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship for local inventors, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. The event will feature a ‘quick pitch’ competition where entrepreneurs and start-up businesses vie for cash and in-kind prizes. The event will be held on Thursday, May 17, at CIRC Hotel, 1780 Polk St. It is scheduled to run from 5 to 8 pm.
SPARK Hollywood has three main objectives: (1) to provide a quick-pitch competition for selected contestants to pitch their idea or invention to a panel of judges to win prizes; (2) to provide an opportunity for start-ups to showcase their ideas, inventions and products during a “trade show” open to the public; and (3) provide an opportunity for early-stage entrepreneurs to learn about resources available in the City of Hollywood and South Florida, while networking with potential investors and experts who may help grow their venture.
The quick-pitch competition will feature entrepreneurs and start-up ventures competing for cash and in-kind prizes by giving a three-minute presentation of their innovative idea/business to a panel of judges comprised of local investors and business professionals. The event’s keynote speaker will be Scott Joseph, a local Hollywood entrepreneur, the founder and president of Healthy Tribe, a $15 million-dollar company and author of “The Chimp Diet.” He will share his experience on investing in and growing a food service business focused on Nutritional Biology.
