Free Spring Break Activities Planned Through March 31 at the Marine Environmental Education Center

Wondering what to do with the family during Spring Break?

There is a week’s worth of fun, free activities planned at the Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC) at the Carpenter House, a 1941 estate built by Henry Godfrey Carpenter Jr., a Massachusetts native and retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander.

The site features its very own green turtle, as well as an interactive Interpretive Center with displays ranging on topics from sea turtle conservation to marine debris.

Events begin every day at 10:30 am and all are welcome to attend and participate. MEEC is located on Hollywood Beach at 4414 N Surf Road. Activities are free, however, donations are always appreciated.

The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, March 28: Meet Captain the Green Sea Turtle
Thursday, March 29: Beach Clean Up
Friday, March 30: Sea Turtle Nesting
Saturday, March 31: Sea Turtles of the World

Stop by Tuesday – Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to watch as Captain the Green Sea Turtle is fed.

The MEEC was fostered from a partnership between Broward County Parks and Recreation and Nova Southeastern University. The facility is located on the grounds of the Carpenter House at Hollywood North Beach Park in Hollywood, Florida. For more information about the historic property, visit broward.org.
