Hollywood Seeks Input from Residents in Developing New Strategic Plan

The City of Hollywood hosted a meeting to gain input from residents on what they want from the City’s new strategic plan.

The City Commission and City management team has held retreats on this new plan and they’re working on developing a mission, vision, and core values statement. These elements will form the foundation for the new strategic plan. The plan will include goals for the City to achieve, a work schedule and ways to measure success.

During the meeting, residents, many of whom are leaders in their neighborhood and civic associations spoke on what they wanted. Some voiced concern about a lack of communication from the City to residents. A number of residents said that departments are in “silos” with little communication or interaction among various groups in city government. Some wanted to know if a major reorganization was planned. People wanted the City to be run more like a business and to be more efficient.

Commissioner Caryl Shuham said she wants to hear from residents and that this plan will have a major effect on all areas of the city.

This plan comes at a critical time for Hollywood as the city is set to receive a substantial amount of money from the General Obligation Bond.
