McArthur has a strong football team

The McArthur High School football team could have a big year in 2019.

Coach Pierre Senatus believes the Mustangs have some good players.

“We will have an exciting year,” Senatus said. “We have talent and nationally ranked players. We will be playing a lot of good teams this year.”

Ruben Hyppolite is one of the leading players. He plays linebacker and has committed to Maryland. He has done well academically and is very knowledgeable about football.

Jerrold Pough, Jr. is also a very good player at cornerback. He has committed to Rutgers. Jaylen Taylor is a top running back and has earned accolades for his talent. Damion Alford, a wide receiver is being recruited by Miami, Florida State, University of Florida, Kentucky and other strong programs.

The Mustangs face some very strong competition. They will play Chaminade Madonna and Cardinal Gibbons. Both teams won the state championship in their divisions. Other strong opponents, include University School, Plantation, and Miramar.

“We will be playing good teams from our area and that is always good,” Senatus said. “We won’t have any easy opponents but if we work hard I think we can win.”
