Broward County Public School students should expect to do their schoolwork from home for the rest of the academic year.

During a recent presentation, Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie said the Florida Department of Education had recommended that classrooms be closed until at least May 1, and the District honored this request. It appears likely that students will not return to their classrooms until next fall due to developments in the Coronavirus pandemic.

Runcie said that 96 percent of the District students were able to sign onto the online system and are doing school work from home through the Canvas system.

Runcie said that food distribution is going well and more food distribution sites will open soon.
