Local FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Set to Close Nov. 24

A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will remain open until Friday, November 24 in Sunrise to help Florida storm survivors. Disaster Recovery Centers offer in-person support to individuals and small business owners. Recovery specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Florida are available to provide assistance to anyone filling out their applications or updating their status. Voluntary organizations are available and offer a variety of services to help survivors recover. The State of Florida does not offer Food For Florida (Disaster SNAP/D-SNAP) at DRCs. Jubilee Center calls on community to help fill Thanksgiving baskets and volunteers to assemble

  Time seems to fly by so fast — the Thanksgiving Holiday is upon us.  Many of the families served by the Jubilee Center of South Broward were among those adversely affected by Hurricane Irma and more than ever need your assistance. As they have for many years, the Jubilee Center is doing its Thanksgiving Basket project, specifically for homeless families with children.  They have provided the below list of needed items and are requesting delivery by November 15th so that the baskets can be distributed on the 21st, in time for Thanksgiving. Art and Culture Center/Hollywood showcases female artists; hosts informative workshop series

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Girls’ Club, an alternative space exhibiting contemporary art by women, with the exhibition Change Agents: Six South Florida Artists Making Things Happen. The show presents new works by artists from the collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz. The concurrent exhibit is Mottos, an exhibition raising social awareness by challenging pre-existing stereotypes.
