SPARK Hollywood Kicks Off 2018 Season with Intimate Event on Raising Start-Up Capital in South Florida

SPARK Hollywood, a Shark Tank-like program based here in Hollywood which will present a major event on May 17 at the new CIRC Hotel, held an enlightening and enriching Spark Speaker Series event on Wednesday, April 18, at Nokku, a discreet cocktail lounge tucked away beyond the main dining room of Monkitail restaurant at The Diplomat Beach Resort. The guest speaker was Mark Volchek, founding partner of Las Olas Venture Capital and director of the Founder Institute, who participated in an interactive Q&A, themed around bringing traction and value to the South Florida start-up ecosystem and discussed the momentum and growth within South Florida’s very own start-up scene. Anne Hotte (CEO of Greater Hollywood Chamber), Ed Walls (GM of The Diplomat Beach Resort), Pam Butler (one of last year’s successful SPARK competitors), Brian Rademacher (City of Hollywood Office of Communications, Marketing & Economic Development), Chris O’Brien (Police Chief) and Amanda Harris (The Diplomat Beach Resort Director of PR & Marketing) were in attendance at the event.  After the Q&A, Volcheck mingled with the attendees to continue speaking on his topic of expertise. AARP Offers Driver Safety Courses in Hollywood

With all the different driving customs in South Florida, learning new driving skills is always a good thing.  AARP is bringing its low-cost, six-hour Driver Safety course to a location near you, and completion will get most people a discount on their auto insurance. While the course is directed at senior drivers, it is open to anyone who wants to attend and anyone will benefit.   Contact your own auto insurer to see if you would receive a discount for taking the course. It’s Your Chance to Discover France — Hollywood Style — at April 28 Event

Last updated on April 19th, 2018 at 09:55 am On Saturday, April 28, the International School of Broward, a partnership of two French-American schools in Hollywood, will bring a little bit of France to Florida at “A TASTE OF FRANCE Made in Hollywood”.  This all-day festival is designed to introduce attendees to the beautiful and mysterious country of France and to help attendees “Discover France through its Culture, Gastronomy, and Artistry,” according to Virginie Askinazi, Board liaison of ISB and Headmaster deputy of Lycee Franco Americain. The International School of Broward is a charter school in Hollywood, Florida that offers a two-way immersion education program in French and English. It was founded in 2007.  ISB has two schools, one from pre-K to fifth grade and the other one from grades 6 -12.  It is non-profit and tuition-free. The all-day Festival, which takes place at the school at 3100 NW 75th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024, opens to public at 10am. According to Askinazi, there will be French restaurants preparing and selling food, and a variety of French companies which do business in South florida exhibiting their products and services.   There will also be a small “Tour de France” with electric bikes, a talent show with prizes for winners and a DJ for the teens.
