United Way of Broward County Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention, in collaboration with Broward Behavioral Health Coalition, is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Rising Above Stigma Conference on Friday, February 22. The event will focus on supporting and raising awareness of behavioral health and substance use prevention within the Hispanic Community.
Ismael Cala, life and business strategist, best-selling author and international speaker identified by The New York Times as “The Latino Larry King,” will serve as the Keynote Speaker on both days of the Rising Above Stigma Conference. Cala will speak about his personal experience with mental health and will discuss life strategies to help overcome barriers to health and wellness.
· Conference Topics will include Adverse Childhood Events, Behavioral Health Data and Deconstructing Stigma with the Hispanic Population.
· This event will provide a forum for participants to discuss the stigma surrounding mental health and substance abuse and will focus on connecting the dots and providing practical tools for Behavioral Health Service Providers working with the Hispanic Community. · Participants will have the opportunity to earn CEU credits.
· This event is $15 and includes breakfast and a book.
